Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to try to treat conditions or change habits.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is an intense internal concentration, where our conscious mind is drifting away and we access the subconscious mind. Unhelpful behaviours are modified and negative thoughts are reframed.
What happens in a hypnotherapy session
There are different types of hypnotherapy, and different ways of hypnotising someone.
First, you’ll usually have a talk with your therapist to discuss what you hope to achieve and agree what methods your therapist will use.
After this, the hypnotherapist may:
- lead you into a deeply relaxed state – most people feel refreshed and relaxed
- use your agreed methods to help you towards your goals – for example, suggesting that you do not want to carry out a certain habit
- gradually bring you out of the trance-like state. Most people feel refreshed and relaxed
You’re fully in control when under hypnosis and do not have to take on the therapist’s suggestions if you do not want to. If necessary, you can bring yourself out of the hypnotic state. Hypnosis does not work if you do not want to be hypnotised.

Hypnosis for Weight Loss
Year after year, you cannot fail to hear of some new diet craze sweeping the nation. They’re constantly in lifestyle magazines, endorsed by the once slightly overweight celebrity who has religiously followed the regime to become super-slinky and hype-toned. We can’t help but read them and hope that the dream of shedding those pounds in unrealistic time-scales be possible. It is with positive intention and new found motivation that we start the diet, only to fall off the wagon two weeks later, feeling deflated and positively worse about our failure to control our weight. We’ve all been there, more than once. Fad diets do not work because they are exactly what they say they are… a fad! a new craze or phase to endure. They are not meant to be lasting and neither are their effects. Fad diets are designed to keep you in a vicious cycle of yo-yo weight loss & weight gain.
Hypnosis For Anxiety and Depression
Anxiety is a normal, healthy response to situations that appear threatening. It tells us when to be cautious and vigilant, preparing us for action if necessary.
However, sometimes this natural emotion can become severe and overwhelming. When this happens it can cause us to become hyper-vigilant, panicked and overly-concerned about living our lives. Anxiety sufferers may develop phobias, to objects or situations, their thinking and behaviours can become obsessive, leading to social withdrawal and possibly sexual dysfunction.
Long-term, it can severely affect both your psychological and physical well-being. Sufferers may find themselves locked in a loop of anxiety and depression, with what seems like a little respite. Whatever the reason you may have first become highly anxious, it is the underlying thinking, behaviours, that help to maintain and worsen its presence.
Hypnotherapy for Self-Esteem
How we think about ourselves and our feelings of self-esteem is of fundamental importance to our psychological health. Also, they also increase the likelihood that we can achieve goals and ambitions in life. Exploring the underlying mechanism of our self-worth can release us from years of unhelpful and inhibiting beliefs we may hold about ourselves.
