Running out of time? Do you hardly have a minute? Are you late? Or just chasing deadlines? Are you always in a hurry to get somewhere, to keep an appointment or to complete a task?
If this sounds like how you live your life, you probably think about time a great deal. You probably try to arrive for appointments on time. On most days you would like to save time. You feel like you’re always running out of time and therefore, you might even like to make more time if you could.
In reality, there is no more time to have, but you can avoid running out of time.
You aren’t actually running out of time!
Here is a challenge for you. Stop looking at your watch and focus on what you want to do. What do you believe that is important for you to do? Think carefully about this. Once you know what matters to you, do it.
You may be surprised by how you feel. When they do what really matters to them, most people feel less anxious and less stressed. Suddenly they are doing something meaningful. They have stopped worrying about time and life is better. You are likely to feel better, too. In fact, you are no longer punishing yourself for how you are using your time. Also, you feel now you have time enough!
Are You Making Time?
Initially, we put ourselves under pressure about how we use our time. Then, as soon as we stop thinking about it, life improves. Actually, more time does not exist. We can only “make time” by making choices. Choose what to do now and you’ll feel empowered because you have made the choice yourself, without being pressured by time.
Changing Time, not running out of time.
Think differently about time and you’ll never be running out of time again. Do not allow an abstract concept to rule your life. Do not allow your concept of time to tyrannise you and make you behave in ways that cause you unhappiness.
Instead of checking your watch, prioritise what is truly important, and do that. Think about why you do what you do. Do that what will make you happy. The idea of limited time can help you manage your interactions with others.
Changing your perception of time means you’ll never feel you’re running out of time again. Quite literally “take your time” to achieve greater control over your life. The times are changing and you are changing them for the better.
